Recently read: "Gator Kill" by Bill Crider

Gator Kill

Gator Kill (Truman Smith Private Eye)

The second book in Crider's "Truman Smith" series.  Between the first and second book, the body of Smith's sister has been found, leaving him feeling a bit more depressed (though at least he knows that she is dead).  When a dead gator is found on the property of a family's friend, Smith is asked to investigate.  Soon, there's human bodies, and a suspicious deputy sheriff who doesn't like outsiders.

Why are there rumors of cattle rustlers?  Are the murders tied to rumors of a government land buy for a park?  And who is driving the black 4WD vehicle that tires to run Smith down?

This is a nice follow up to the first book, though in ways it is more reminiscent of Crider's "Sheriff Dan Rhodes" books, given the small town setting and some of the characters.  I definitely want to see more to of Smith, but the other books aren't available as ebooks.
